Blood Plasma Separation using Microfluidics
The red blood corpuscle sink slowly by the gravity without centrifugation due to the sedimentation effect. The blood goes down and there is only plasma in the upper side when the sedimentation occurring in the micro channel. We can acquire the plasma by the junction that separated from upper side.
he micro channel divides inlet region, separation region and the outlet region. Inlet region is the sedimentation section at the blood flow. Separation region divides blood corpuscle and plasma using the difference of channel's deepness. Outlet region is the section of high hematocrit. It is possible to control the flow rate using flow resistance from difference of section length.
